icall

These days it seems we’re on a roll with VoIP iPhone apps. Fring, sipgate, and now iCall. The latter is probably the one with the most potential. iCall enables iPhones to switch onto a VoIP network mid-call whenever you hit an open wifi signal.

The service will most likely not work over Edge, and will almost certainly not be able to place calls over 3G, but considering how much time we spend around wifi signals, iCall has the potential to save our precious talk minutes.

The application is currently in beta version, and a release isn’t quite ready for the public yet. iCall should be available when the official App Store launches. People behind iCall seem confident that they will be listed in the app store, which would be a good proof that the door is not totally closed to VoIP apps.
