Apple released iPhone OS 3.1.3 just a few hours ago and it it is now available for download directly from iTunes or from our iPhone downloads page.
This is a very minor update, and to be honest, it’s almost deceiving. If I had to give my opinion on this, I’d say that Apple released firmware 3.1.3 just to piss off the Dev Team, who released RedSn0w 3.1.2 jailbreak just days ago.
The “fixes and improvements” for iPhone OS 3.1.3 are as follow:
- improves accuracy of reported battery level on iPhone 3GS
- resolves issue where 3rd party apps would not launch in some instances
- fixes bug that may cause an app to crash when using the Japanese Kana keyboard
Additionally, Apple has updated the baseband from version 5.11.07 to 5.12.01 on the iPhone.
As usual when a new firmware update is released, it is recommended for jailbreakers and unlockers alike not to update their device. If you update to 3.1.3, you will lose your jailbreak and/or unlock.
More info will follow as it comes. For up-to-date news about jailbreaking, make sure to read our iPhone jailbreak section.

I will not be updating for a useless update. I hope no one releases a jail break for this pointless FW. Apple is just trying to have people find the exploits so that their next FW will be more secure. Hopefully Geohot doesn’t fall for it. I would say dev team too but by the time they release anything the next FW would already be out anyway.
How cool would it be if someone wrote their on OS for the iphone?
Too bad for anyone who buys a new iPhone with the 3.1.3 firmware already loaded aye David..
man i get the 3.1.3 f****
arun,
Yes it does suck for them but it benefits the community not too. I had too wait for my jailbreak they can too.
how to downgrade from 3.1.3 to 3.1.2??
@Ron Downgrading won’t change anything. Your baseband will still be locked and if you’re on a 3GS you won’t be able to jailbreak anyways. If you still want to try, just plug iPhone, launch iTunes and hit the SHIFT key on your keyboard WHILE clicking on restore. It will ask you to choose a file. Download the 3.1.2 firmware from our iPhone Downloads page and select it.
does anyone know if it is possible to downgrade the baseband from 5.12.01 to 5.11.07 and also if possible to unlock 3g 3.1.3 yet…………..??
Downgrade iPhone 3.1.3 (Baseband 05.12.01) To 3.1.2 Using Fuzzyband Downgrader Cydia App
Apple has recently updated iPhone firmware to 3.1.3, and ever since then, there have been updates to jailbreaking tools such as PwnageTool 3.1.5, redsn0w 0.9.4, and Sn0wbreeze V1.5, to make them compatible with the latest iPhone OS. iPhone 3G 05.08 bootloader users who have accidentally upgraded their firmware to 3.1.3, only later realizing that they are unable to preserve their unlock, can now downgrade to iPhone 3.1.2 baseband 05.12.01, an unlockable version using Fuzzyband Cydia App.
Here are the steps to downgrade your iPhone 3G to 3.1.2 firmware using Fuzzyband:
1. Launch Cydia from your iPhone’s Springboard.
2. Tap on ‘Sections’ tab found at the bottom. Scroll down the list and select ‘System’.
3. Find ‘Fuzzyband Downgrader’ in the list of packages and select it. Tap on ‘Install’ at the top right, then tap ‘Confirm’.
4. After the installation is complete, launch Fuzzyband Downgrader from the Springboard.
5. Fuzzyband will now query your iPhone’s modem and list details, including Boot loader version, Baseband version, and also iPhone OS version.
6. In case your bootloader is 5.08 you will be able to downgrade your iPhone 3.1.3 to 3.1.2.
7. Tap ‘Downgrade’ and Fuzzyband will take care of the rest.
I updated my iPhone and I am very unhappy with the results. I have to charge my phone 3 times a day where all I used to charge it was over night. They did not help with the battery issue at all.
So ones I upgrade to 3.1.3 on the I-phone I can’t use it with T-mobile
