85 CommentsMany people are experiencing various issues after unlocking their iPhone with BlackRa1n and BlackSn0w.
Here are some of the problems you may have encountered:
- No 3G or Edge
- Can’t connect to wifi
- Problems with YouTube
- No push notifications
There are 2 possible solutions for this.
The first fix is to reset your network settings. On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. After resetting your settings, make sure to reboot your iPhone. It is very important to reboot or else, the changes won’t take effect.
A few people told me on Twitter that this didn’t work but resetting ALL the settings then rebooting did work. So try this if the first fix didn’t work.
The second fix is pretty simple too but it does require you to have an Internet connection. From your iPhone, go to Cydia and add this new source http://cydia.iphoneil.net.
After adding this source, search for an app called Push Fix and install it. Reboot your iPhone and you should be good to go.
If the problems persist, I suggest taking more drastic measures by restoring your iPhone. I know, I know, restoring is not fun but it’s always a good thing to do when nothing else works.
If you choose to restore your iPhone, make sure you set it up as a new phone. Do not “restore from backup” as this would bring back some of the bad settings that caused your issues in the first place.
If you tried all of these fixes and you’re still experiencing issues, then I’m not sure what else to tell you.

Is the issue unlocking or something else. There is a significant number of “regular” iPhone users who have lost Wi-Fi after 3.0 / 3.1 / 3.1.2 upgrades. I’m calling it Wi-Fi-Fry because of the symptoms and guesses as to what is going on. It also seems like it may be related to a specific batch of iPhones produced a year ago. But who knows for sure?

Same issue, only a restore worked. I then ran this method which seems to have fixed the issue:
if you dont have cydia..
install cydia and goto manage
then click on packages
find blacksnow and click on it..
in the top right corner hit modify and uninstall blacksnow..
once done with the uninstall of blacksnow hit the home button
once at the home screen hold the power button and slipe to shut off…
once iphone is shut down hold power and turn back on…
then goto settings then wifi and connect to your wireless router..
once connected to wi-fi goto cydia and search and download rock app.(which is sapposed to be a easier cydia installing)
once rock is installed exit cydia and open rock
once in rock click manage and then manage sources..
then click edit then add, and add blackra1n then click add source.
once source is installed search and install blacksn0w

“Push Fix” does not exist on Cydia (as many people have reported), but I installed “youtube Fix” by the same author, and after reboot wifi is working.
I had the wifi issue , reseting worked a few restarts but then returned , i have installed ultrasnow above blacksnow and so far the wifi issue is sorted , maybe ultrasnow ( which does nothing as its not supported on the new baseband ) replaces a lost file for wifi , by removing ultrasnow the problem returns , so i would try installing ultrasnow , but you do not uninstall blacksnow , you have them both
RT @Thumper – good tip. I followed what you suggested and it kind of half worked. I installed ultransn0w via http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com in Cydia and rebooted as per the installation process. On reboot, no change – no WIFI detected. In desperation I uninstalled blackra1n which I expected would remove blacksn0w. It didn’t, so I rebooted just to see if the reboot would kill blacksn0w – which it didn’t. All of a sudden the “Choose Wireless Network” dialog came up and my wireless lan was listed. Bingo!
I successfully joined the network & surfed without any problem. I powered off the phone (3gs) and started up again – joined wifi no problem.
I am not sure if its the installation of ultrasn0w or the removal of blackra1n, but something related to these two apps fixes the problem. YouTube is working too.
There is now an update on cydia that fixes the wifi issue. I installed/modified and my wifi works perfect. Open cydia click on updates and it should be there.
Hi guys its working but itunes. just uninstall blackra1n and add source repo666.ultrasn0w.com in cydia. then restart thats it.
Then push fix will appear on the cydia search menu
Downloaded 3.1.2 onto a jailbroken/unlocked iphone 3G by mistake.
Installed Backrain, Cydia, and Snow etc. and now have all my services back except 3G data connection. Any thoughts on how to fix?
Uninstall unwanted or suspicious profile i.e. Setting > General > Profile (i think)
This what I did
> Uninstalled blackra1n
> Reboot
> Removied profile
When i installed ultrasn0w, it said “No services”. Don’t install ultrasn0w
Ran into the Wifi issue today.
It would find no network, but all else was ok.
Reset network setting, then rebooted the phone.
All is fine again.
I’m new to the iPhone, but I think Apple Inc. sucks a big fat donkey’s, well, you know.
Shame such a lovely gadget comes from such a nanny-state company. Could you imagine if this was all open? People would rush to buy this in droves, and Apple would OWN the cellphone market.
I wouldn’t buy another, and that is a statement, as in the last 12 months, I’ve had all the cool phones….

After using BlackRa1n, I lost my wifi connection. Reset the network settings, restarted. No better. Reset all the settings, restarted. No better. Have had to restore to factory settings. Hoping that will get me connected again…….
After JailBreaking with BlackRa1n, I had no wifi connection….
Tried everything on the pages, but no result, so have had to restore to factory settings…….

Turn your Airplane mode ON then hold the power button and shut off your iPhone.
Then restart your iPhone and turn Airplane mode OFF and check to see if you get Wifi Network connection.
Do the steps above repeatedly until you get a Wifi Network connection.
I now have my wifi back.

I have tried everything above to no avail but here is my dilemma:
1) How do you get Cydia on your phone without WIFI and phone service?
2) How do you get Push Fix or the You Tube fix on the phone if the WIFI is not working?
3) Has anyone tried “SWIFI”?

It worked! Turning on airplane mode, rebooting, then turning off airplane mode and voila! Wifi is back up and connecting!
greetings here is my issue restored a 3g to 3.1.2 baseband 5-11 whatever ran blackra1n jailbroke the peice of junk and installed snow now my network is in searching mode all day tryed with 3 diffrent tmobile sims and no luck, had to go back to winmo 6.5 Wing cant afford to loose anymore business like apple is going to……..anyone got any idea’s im lost now….it was working 100% before i got apples worm….
Uninstall BlackRa1n … Go to Cydia … search for FuzzyBand … install and reboot … add repo666 … search for UltraSn0n … install and reboot. Worked for me.

upgraded to 3.1.2, and tried jailbreaking through blackra1n. wi-fi stopped working and so did the bluetooth. restored atleast 4 times, n jailbroke each time with blackra1n. no network, no wi-fi n no bluetooth still. tried resetting the network, tried resetting all, tried switching on the airport mode and switching off n switching it on again. nothing worked…

i installed 3.1.2 (updated with itunes) and jailbroken with blackra1n RC3.
everything worked perfect, phoning, SMS, MMS, web-surfing, synching with itunes,
installig apps….and now, after a view days, i could not sync to itunes any more, because
it says, that my SIM is not supported, although i still could phone, or use all apps.
i also tried to rerun blackrain + snow, but no change.
did also install itune to another PC, but synching still doesn´t work ?!?!
any ideas ??

Same as Samyak.. My Iphone jailbkeak and unlock by no wifi ..worked almost perfect ..only problem is My Wifi see all wireless even private and Hotpot as cafenet…but could not connect to it. That mean not hardware problem..firware 3.1.2 problem

but i have ralized that you may experience some problems similar to these push fix problems if your time on the iphone is off by more than just a few minutes —problems i experienced were no youtube wifi would not work in many apps and app store could connect but not install apps also current location on map would not opperate also i would recieve msg saying check Date & Time settings
The only fix i wound was to first make sure time on your computer is correct then connect the iphone and let the time sync then everything was normal
have done the black rain jail break. now i have wifi connected, but no internet. have checked that safari is no connecting also. therefore there is nopw no way i can complete the hack. what do i do? how do i load cydia?

I had problems with the wifi and after “reset your network setting” everithing was fine. Thanks a lot.
Anyone have this issue? When I reset the phone, it gets tossed into recovery mode. If the battery dies and I recharge the phone, it starts in recovery mode. Not a big deal, the phone works great otherwise. Just a pain to run the blackrain (sp) exe each time.

after all, wi-fi worked for me. since then I havn’t had any problems, except that some times if I want to make a call then I get a “no network” error
People, The problem happened with me on my 3.1.2 3GS , i lost my Wi-Fi i thought its the end, all i did is just i used Blackrain again and i did jailbreak it again and it worked, if it did not just do it again, and it will work
but i have one issue, if i turned my phone off then on, it gives me the symbol of the “connect to i-tunes” and it doesnt work except if i run blackrain again, i sit terrified the whole day watching my battery , because if it turned off i have to go back home and run the blackrain again and again… sooooooooo i need heeeeeeeeeelp people to get rid of this problem
Hi, I unlocked and jailbroked my 3gs iphone with the blackrain program and it worked. however, when I restart to iphone there is an itunes connecting symbol appears and cannot reach to menu unless I jailbroke again. please help me. what should I do? thanks.

If you got your 3GS after week 40, it has new hardware that screws with the jailbreak. You basically can’t ever turn your phone off or let the battery run down. If you do, you just need to run blackra1n again like you did the very first time you jailbroke. No data/settings will be lost.
The only drag is that if you go on a long trip, you’ll have to bring you computer with you lol

On a 3GS running 3.1.2 I had a problem with wifi. I had to restore, jailbreak, restore using iTunes, then install Cydia and sn0w to unlock.
Hi just wanted to let people know. My wireless had stopped working ages ago, tried restoring, resetting ect, none of these worked for me. so i tried JOEL BROTONEL fix and it worked a treat
took a few goes, but works fine even on reboot. SO A BIG THANKYOU TO JOEL BROTONEL.
Turn on flight mode, hold power switch to turn off iphone. THen turn iphone back on and go and turn flight mode off then click settings to see if your network is there. Hopefully should be working, as i said took 3 goes.

Nghibui, the problem is you have latest iPhone which is the 4th and 5th serial number starts at 40 numbers And your iPhone is on Tethered. Tethered means everytime you turn your iPhones off it will go back to recovery mode. And you need to plug It in to your computer. Just wait for untethered software. (I hope)….any more question?

Thanks a lot for your help. I have one more question. So if I want to reboot my IP, what should I do (I need to reboot it for completing the Youtube fix). Also, I am warned not to ever update my Ip to the firmware 3.1.3 from the Itunes because it may risk never being unlocked again. Is that right?

Thanks a lot for the advice, this is what I did to fix this issue:
1. Tried resetting the network settings which put me in a boot loop about 4 times. I managed to finally boot the Iphone after going into DFU mode and then restarting it, WITHOUT DOING ANY RESTORE. I don’t know if this was just happening to my phone but I advise you lot not to reset the network setting as after managing to restart my phone it didn’t do any good.
2. Make sure that Open SSH is installed first (look for it in Cydia). For whatever reason step 3 didn’t work without the Open SSH installed.
3. Went into Cydia and installed ultransn0w as described above by several users BUT I DID NOT uninstall BlackSn0w. Phone rebooted and wifi started working without glitches.
After applying the above, the Internet Tethering patch(done by Moshe Malka, version 3.0 that you can find in Cydia) started working very well, too.
I don’t know if in my case I got just lucky solving the issue but I thought sharing it so that someone may try this, too.
I should add that I have an Iphone 3GS, older version (before week 40 as described here: http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=7425 ->Step Six), jailbroken with RedSn0w 0.9.2 and then applied the BlackSn0w.

Hi, I have jailbroken and unlocked my iphone. But it is not recognizing my Carrier. I tried using various softwares like Quickpwn, blackrain,snowbreeze. Could any one tell me what should be done. I can find that my carrier is recognised in the setting -> about page but not on my home page, hence iam not able to make or receive calls.

SAM, what firmware do you have? also what carrier are you using? or maybe its because you just have a bad connection. anyway, try this step..

I had i phone 3g 16 gb after update firmware 3.1.2.. wifi network found …hotpot pulic and private …but when i select network it says ” UNABLE TO JOIN THE NETWORK” Not jailbreak and unlock yet.
Try all trick and try all reset even restore firmware 3.1.2 still ” UNABLE TO JOIN THE NETWORK”

I use to have the same problem – could not connect to home network
I changed my linksys router from wep protected to WPA – this did the trick.
First i would turn off security on your router and see if your iphone connects, then change the router settings to wpa

Phew – fixed it.
In case anyone else comes up against this, here’s what I did. Not sure which bit fixed the problem . . . all I know is wi-fi didn’t work before but does work now.
On the iPhone:
1) Settings
2) General
3) Reset
4) Reset network settings
The iPhone then rebooted, if that’s the right term
Still on the iPhone:
Forget this Network
5) Settings
6) Wi-Fi
7) Under “Choose a Network” it had detected my router’s network. I think this requires “Ask to Join Networks” to be switched on. I clicked the blue arrow / ‘>’ sign thingy to get details of the network
9) Back to “Wi-Fi Networks” menu
10) Switch Wi-Fi off
On my desktop PC:
11) Accessed my BTHomeHub from web browser via url http://bthomehub.home/
12) Settings.
13) “See or change your wireless security code” (this and a few of the other links take you to the same page).
14) Encryption should be “Use WPA & WPA2″, not “Use WEP”. Check the password here: it’s what you use to access the network via your iPhone.
15) Refresh <— a button you click in the "Wireless Settings" section.
Back on the iPhone:
16) Settings
17) Switch Wi-Fi on
18) Ensure "Ask to Join Networks" is enabled
19) Wait for your network to be automatically detected
20) Select the network and enter your password.
From here, wi-fi worked fine for me. I've a feeling only step 15 was required . . .

Some one told me that problem hardware wifi chip not dead but need to reflow the IC.

I get my iphone 3g with the OS3.1.2 and the modem firm 5.11.07 jailbroken and unlocked..
But for some reason my brother messup with the iphone and restore it with a custom firmware 3.1… and when the iphone was rebooted my iphone was no longer unlocked and the NO WIFI in the Wifi field under airplane mode… i tried everithing to get my wifi back but nothing.. even the airplane thing… the thing is that the phone is not unlocked… and i dond know if is from my country… btw i’m in El Salvador… how can i download or install the pushfix in my iphone?? Or if is possible to do a downgrade of baseband to the 4.xx.xx..

Help!!!! I have an IP currently use 3.1.2 firmware. Unfortunately, I reseted all settings of my IP and turned it back to the recovery mode. I have tried many times using black rain to run it again but hopeless. Is there any way for me to run my Ip without updating to 3.1.3 firmware? Is is safe now to update to 3.1.3?

Hey I got an unlocked Iphone. firmware 3.1.2 my wifi is not working. Everytime i click on my network it gives my message “UNABLE TO JOIN”. PLZ help. tried sinfulrepo thing. still not working. ;
airplane >> turn off >> Turn on and if necessary repeat. Over the past month or so, I have had to do this 3 or 4 times. it worked in the end EVERY time.
I have an original iphone 1st gen, with 3.1.2. JB with BlackRain…Has worked great for several months (after fixing the initial push problem).
Suddenly, The button/toggle that turns off 3G has disappeared, and so has my wifi connectivity. says could not scan for wiresless networks. I can only assume at this point that since my 3G button is gone, that 3G is turned on, and causing the trouble?
Any insights would help….tried everything I’ve found online, no luck. Can’t even get cydia, icy, boot neuter or rock installed without wifi!!!

Are you able to still have t-mobile internet running after you unlock your iphone? my wifi is running strong but i would like to know if i can still have my 3G internet from t-mobile!
I haven’t had GPS for ages.. ever since 3.1. I’m not sure if the cause was 3.1 firmware or blackra1n as I upgraded and immediately jailbroke.. At the time, “push fix” was said to solve this issue but it didn’t work for me. For a while I could locate to the nearest cell tower (aGPS) but since upgrading to 3.1.2 and using the Spirit jailbreak I still had no real GPS. I tried a reccomendation of deleting locationd’s cache and now I have no location services at all… Any ideas?
reset ALL settings worked on my 3GS, reset Network didn’t.

well…i upgraded to 3.1.3 and wifi was there but couldn’t connect to the internet…
thinking jailbreaking would help…i jailbroked my iphone through SPIRIT…coz non of the other like blackra1n, redsnow , bla bla bla was workin..
….is there any help for me…
pple have solved their problem using ultrasnow on top of blackra1n or watever but its not helping me at all….any solution….please help…..

Hi I am having the wifi issue on my 3G on 4.01 jailbroken with redsn0w
when i got this phone a few weeks ago it was on version 2.something and i upgraded to 3.1.3
wifi stopped working from there
upgraded to 4.0 still the same
upgraded to 4.01 still the same
when i switch wifi on is searches then stops, searches then stops continuously until i am out of range of a wireless router then it stops searching. When I am in range of a wifi again it starts searching then stops over and over again.
I have tried all the fixes i can find and still nothing could the wifi chip be fried?

Hi , I have the same problem on my 3gs iphone , and I have made the sme steps as ” n3ilr “, and nothing works..
still wifi is not detecting any network, but it can detect any network when it is very very close to the dsl routr ( I put it on top of the router, then it works)..
so please if anyone knows how to solve this problem I will be grateful,
