How to Unlock iPhone 3GS 3.1

This step-by-step guide and tutorial will show you how to unlock your iPhone 3GS running OS 3.1 using UltraSn0w. This is a very simple method that requires only a few steps.

Step 1: You have to jailbreak your iPhone 3GS by following one of these tutorials.

Step 2: Once jailbroken, follow these steps:

  • Launch Cydia.
  • Add the following source to Cydia repo666.ultrasn0w.com (note there is a “0″ in sn0w, not an “o”).
  • After installing this source in Cydia, search for “ultraSn0w”.
  • Install UltraSn0w and reboot your iPhone.

    hi after upgrading to 3.1.3 in iphone 3g i get “unable to load network list” have tried creating a new ipsw with “activate” unchecked in the pwnage too please help any inputs highly appreciated

    this tutorial is very misleading… i hate it. why don’t you clarify it is for base band 4.x only ?

    I used your tutorial to jailbreak my 3GS – 3.1 iPhone with BlackRa1n after a long wait. The jailbreak went very smoothly. I am having issues with the unlock. I followed all the steps and installed ultrasn0w, but when I put in a SIM card it keeps searching for a network and then finally displays “No Service”, I do not get the Invalid SIM message. Could you please guide me further, am I missing something?
    I have bought this phone new from a reseller so I am not aware how the previous owner upgraded to 3.1 Will upgrading to 3.1.2 help with the unlock process?

    I updated my baseband to 05.11. I’m just waiting for the new unlock. :(

    I’m LOST i used the pwnage 3.1.4 and now i have the Modem Firmware 5.x.x
    Now what??? tell me what i can do rom now on? just wait like a loser ???

    hi, the jailbreak worked perfectly, whoever the unlock was unsuccessfull. i have Modem Firmware 05.11.07 and i did all the steps mentioned in this tutorial, but i got “Locked SIM” when i put SIM in the iphone after installing ultrasn0w…

    can Firmware 05.11.07 be unlocked?

    Please help.
