Given that most cracked iPhone apps are .ipa files, I recommend you have a look at my guide on how to install .ipa files on your iPhone instead.

I assume that you’re on a jailbroken 2.X iPhone and that you have installed OpenSSH from Cydia.
1. Download cracked application.
2. Unzip the cracked application folder to your desktop.
3. SSH into iphone.
4. In WinSCP, navigate to /Applications.
5. Drag the cracked application folder over the /Applications folder and drop it in there.
6. Right click on the cracked application folder and change permissions to 0755 and select the box beside “set owner group and permissions recursively” (or go inside the folder, select everything, and set properties to 0755 as well), then hit ok.
7. In the /Applications folder, make a new folder called “Documents”, with a capital D. Change the permissions on the “Documents” folder you just created to 0777.
8. Navigate to /var/mobile/ and make a new folder called “Documents”, with a capital D. Change the permissions on the “Documents” folder you just created to 0777.
9. Reboot your device
Note: Some applications require you set permission to 0775. It seems to be kinda random so if 0755 doesn’t work, try 0775.
I’ve using winscp to download cracked applications on my iphone but i faced one difficulty with the cracked applications ive downloaded using the internet
some of the applications are not a file to unzip. It would be a Apple Device Application File (.ipa)
what to do ?
Hi Sally, simply rename the .ipa extension to a .zip extension. Then, open the zip file to grab the .app folder.

I’m not an expert in this so i don’t think i understand what do u mean by ‘.ipa extention’..If you are referring to the extension on the name of the ipa itself .. its not there !
I mean the downloaded the ipa and the icon has the name of the application only.
I’ve tried several methods to download ipa to the iPhone, like downloading AppSync, but then i wasn’t able to open the /Applications folder, in Winscp to copy the cracked applications to it
I will appreciate any help in this
Hey Sally, onyour desktop, or wherever you saved the file, right click the icon, and rename it to “app name”.zip instead of “app name”.ipa.

i would say the best method for cracked apps would be:
1.Download 1 free app from the app store from iTunes.
2.Next download any app u desire from Appulo.us(website with any app from the App Store and u can get it for FREE) Save to desktop.
3.Drag the .ipa file into ur iTunes Applications folder in ur library, the iTunes applications folder in ur library should have been created when u downloaded the free app from the app store in iTunes.
4.Now sync the app to ur ipod/iphone, ENJOY
Yes I’ve tried that but it doesn’t work
After drag and drop I see the app in the applications library, but after syncing an error message appears. It says: “the application was not installed because an unknown error occurred (0xE8008001)” What do you think?
I think you need the MobileInstallation patch installed. The easiest way to do this is:
1. Jailbreak with redsn0w (if you haven’t already) and make sure to select Cydia to install
2. Cydia does need Wi-Fi to download things so connect your device to Wi-Fi, or use the 3g/EDGE network for iPhones
3. Add the Cydia source http://cydia.hackulo.us/
4. If you are on 3.0 or 3.0.1 (3.0.1 is an iPhone only upgrade to fix the SMS vulnerability) install AppSync for OS 3.0, if you are on 2.2.1 then pick the patch for 2.2.1
5. Reboot your iPhone/iPod Touch
6. Cracked apps will now work properly
7. This should fix some people’s problems

Hey shaf, as some random guy started explaining, the way to get AppSync is to go to Cydia, and search for appsync to see if it’s available, if there is no results then you need to go to Cydia, tap Manage>Sources>Edit>Add, then type: http://cydia.hackulo.us, then tap Add Source>Done. Back in Sources, tap Hackulo.us & install AppSync for OS 3.x & Reboot the iPhone by holding the power button at the top & sliding over the shut down slider, then press the top button again to turn it back on (this takes several minutes) – Just for reference, Cydia only has AppSync for firmwares 3.0 & 3.1, not 1.x or 2.x, & no need to do the SSH & WinSCP stuff with MobileInstaller.framework if you install AppSync. *Another good app from Cydia is Installous, with this you can search for the cracked app and install it directly from your iPhone without using your computer

I want to know that if there is any way to installed cracked applications on an iphone 3gs which is not jailbroken….Can I install the apps from appulo.us for a locked iphone 3gs in the same manner as i used to do for my unlocked iphone 2g.
or i will necessarily have to jailbreak my 3gs…

JM u will have to jailbreak your 3gs but im not sre if the jailbreak is released yet by the dev team, onc yove jailbroken then foolow what ‘Random Guy’ posted and it shud work!
How about installing these files .app ? that are not single files….?
For anyone that gets a file with the .ipa extension. All you have to do is open iTunes, then go to windows explorer, find the ipa file, select and drag it into the iTunes Applications towards the top left. I know this works on iTunes 8.2 up until the last iTunes before 9, I do not know if it works on iTunes 9 tho. It is SOOOOO much easier to have ipa files than it is to have app folders, all you have to do is click, drag & drop and sync your phone with iTunes. You must have iTunes sync turned on in Installous tho.
if i convert the *.zip extension of the unziped app folder, to *.ipa can install then using itunes ? (as i do for any .ipa file) .
ok.. after looking at the same shit for 5 hours plus and looking up everyother way and every guideline on how to fucking chmod or w/e the fuck it is, I give up. I feel stupid.

im on windows 7 btw
when you have the program you use to access your phone (winscp) you find the folder you just copied and when you right click it will give you a menu. Click properties. Then under permisissions or octal change it to 0755.
my app is on my phone and all but when i click it goes white screen then blacks out back to home screen any help is kindly accepted

If one of your apps is not working properly (for example crashes at startup or during use) Turn iphone off then on again. Aslo connect to itunes and let it sync. This did it for me. Also always remove uneeded apps from iphone.

Guess what? I did this and it fuks up my phone!!!! I had to upgrade to 3.1.3 and it deleted all of my apps!!!

Hmm… it did work for a bit but… after a while of using the app i downloaded (DDR), I let my ipod sleep, then after a few hours? I guess, the app disappeared. And when I reconnected to SSH, the folder was still there but the app on the ipod isnt o_O any ideas?

Works fine for OS 3.1.2. Updated to 3.1.3 and now it won’t work.
SSH works fine, I can upload the application to device. But then it never shows an icon in SpringBoard. How to fix? Am I doing something wrong or is there a problem with ROM 3.1.3?

Ok. This worked for me after a few days of research. Please, if something doesn’t make sense or some of the terms are foreign, just do a little research. If you encounter problems, be sure to specify. I just did this today and added GeoDefense to my touch. I am not a programmer or a tech guy but I’ve researched many hours on all things jailbreaking and utilizing the capabilities of the OS.
Step 1: Jailbreak iphone/ipod touch (i used blackrain running on 3.1.2). If you are on 3.1.3, don’t jailbreak. If you know what you’re doing, you can downgrade to 3.1.2 and then jailbreak.
Step 2: Add http://cydia.hackulo.us to your sources on Cydia.
Step 3: From Hackulo, download the correct version of AppSync.
Step 4: Also from Hackulo, download Installous.
(After this step, you will not need wifi to continue, which was nice for me because my ipod touch wifi is 99.9% broken. I had to put it on top of my router to get 1 bar of service)
Step 5: In the Installous settings turn the “iTunes sync” to on.
Step 6: From your computer, go to apptrackr.org and download whatever you want (from what I can see, most of the files are in .zip format. If you download one in a different format, I’m not sure if this will work)
Step 7: Extract the .zip file where you want it.
Step 8: From the unzipped folder, locate the .app folder, which should be inside the “payload” folder
Step 9: Drag the .app folder to your iTunes library
Step 10: Sync your applications

For my comment between step 4 and 5; you will need internet on your computer to download the cracked apps, just not on your ipod/iphone. Just thought I’d specify.
When i drag the .app folder i see no icon of the app. is it normal?
IF i installed apps via installous to my iphone. will it get deleted when i sync my iphone and copy the games in itunes?
So it doesn’t show up in iTunes at all? Or is it just a default icon? No, syncing via iTunes won’t delete the app. They’ll stick around until you delete them yourself

the password “alpine” does not work for me, it denies it everytime i try to connect to my ipod touch 32gb (3gen), it’s running 3.1.2 firmware (jailbroken by blackra1n), please help

Anyone trying to access their phone through wifi:
Must have a jailbroken phone:
Must have openssh installed on their phone from cydia.
I Recommend using SBSettings from Cydia as well in order to toggle on SSH easilly, as well as some other nice features.
On windows, use WinSCP, on a mac I like to use a program called transmit. user name: root, password: alpine, must also set the port from 21 to 22. For the protocol use SFTP opposed to FTP. The phone must be on and lit up. It cannot on, with the display locked. To avoid this, go into settings>General>Auto-Lock> *Never*

Please why do they try to dazzle you.. Read this for a very very simple way to run apps on your iphone:
Get a program call Installous after adding hackolus as a file repository. Install that. Then get an app called IFunBox and run that on your PC. No plug up your Phone to your PC. Run IFunBox. You will now see your phone detected. Goto Panels at the top of IFunBox and make sure the 3 lines are ticked File View, Device State View and Folder View. On the left you will see your iphones top most directory. click on the little plus sign and it will open up a new list, at the bottom of the list click RAW FILE SYSTEM, then click on VAR then click on MOBILE then DOCUMENTS and then INSTALLOUS and finally DOWNLOADS. after you open DOWNLOADS you will see a box (similar to a dos box) Drag your IPA into the box as this is the contents of the DOWNLOADS folder. At the top of the screen you will see a progress bar, small files might not even appear as they loaded so quick. After you have done this use SAFE DEVICE REMOVAL in IFunBox to release your phone, if itunes is running use Eject ihpone to safely remove it from itunes too, Now Important on your Iphone goto Installous application and open the downloads tab at the bottom of the screen, find your file you just dropped, install it. ENJOY after exiting Installous…..another hack another day…..why dont the rain go away. Iphone 3GS 16GB 3.1.3 Unlocked and Jailbroken + Iphone 3G 16GB 3.1.2 Unlocked, Jailbroken and heavily modded

Get cydia on your iPhone (my brother did that for me so im sorry i duno how to do that). But after you do that. Use cydia’s search engine have these installed not all of them are needed but this is exactly what i have just so you are aware and so im not missing anything:

all i know for these steps im going to give you is you need OpenSSH and Installous
in your iphone go to your settings /connection and get your i.p address.
plug in iphone to pc
then boot up/install WinSCP using Norton Commando and as standard with cydia use the following log-in process
Host: i.p address
Username: root
password: alpine
in the last box click the drop down menu and use SCP
(its wise to change username and password but thats all by default)
once your in. this is all you got to do i swear it works im a major tech noob but it worked for me.
once you log in you’ll be in the root directory. where you need to go to is
/private/var/mobile/Documents/Installous/Downloads
so double click on the folder with the upward arrow and three dots as the name.
that should take you to /var
now double click on “mobile”
double click on “documents”
double click on Installous
double click on “Downloads”
drag and drop or copy and paste your files that are “.ipa” So if their in a zip folder extract them then place the ipa file in the downloads folder. Once your done transferring what you want. exit WinSCP access your iphone exit cydia, open up Installous, then go to downloads and install the file you like.
In my case “Chaos Rings.ipa” was my file i drag and dropped. took some time to transfer but it will transfer. then installing it takes some time too but be patient it works
thats all there is to it.
